Kolkata /Goa, Dec 20 : Preparations for the forthcoming Christmas festival are under way all over the country particularly in Kolkata and Goa.
While around the globe, many are busy decorating their homes for the Christmas, children in Kolkata took a unique initiative to clean the city before the festival arrives.
The children dressed up as Santa Claus took up brooms to clean the streets.
Janvi, a young girl said "We are dressed as Santa Clause and cleaning the city to give a message to the people that they should keep Kolkata clean and we want to welcome everyone here for the New Year."
Meanwhile, in Goa, which is known for being a perfect holiday destination because of its joyful people and great ambience is catching up the Christmas spirit
Many European tourists have already arrived in Goa to be a part of the Christmas celebrations.
Hotels in Goa have started arranging parties and other activities.
Rebecca Ogden, a tourist from England said, "We find the people here very friendly. Everyone is in the Christmas spirit and very helpful. I have two young children and all the staff really wants them to have a good time. They put on lot of activities for them. I think that's different to other places we've been to."
Nick, another tourist said, "It's our first time in India. It is fabulous. All well set up for the Christmas."
Alltogether, many places in India wear a festive look to welcome Christmas and the New Year.
