ASUS showcases the best in gaming hardware

Mumbai, India, December 20th 2007: The second season of the World GameMaster Tournament concluded last week with lots of excitement among gamers and technology enthusiasts.

ASUS Technology Pvt. Ltd., the world's leading technology manufacturer was the key entity behind this PC gaming tournament. This year the tournament was also sponsored by other major technology brands like Kingston, RAZER and AGEIA.

Counter Strike, Dota All Stars, F.E.A.R. and Call of Duty 2 were the official games this year. Counter Strike and Dota All Stars had teams of gamers, called clans in the gaming lingo, competing with each other while F.E.A.R and Call of Duty 2 had individual gamers playing to win the Death Match.

This gaming tournament saw the best teams of India competing after qualifying in the preliminary gaming tournaments across India in major cities like Delhi, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Bangalore & Chennai. This time around the excitement among gamers was so strong, that teams from places like Hyderabad, Nagpur, Pune and Ahmedabad came all the way to Mumbai to participate in the prelims because the prelims were not held locally.

ASUS showcased the best of gaming hardware in the tournament. Says Mr. Amit Jaokar, Technical Promotion Manager, and Project Leader for WGT, ASUS India, "The response from the gamers was overwhelming this year. Gamers were thrilled to see the competition zone which included the powerful WGT Gaming Machines. We, at ASUS focusing to educate the end users on choosing the most appropriate components for their systems through such initiatives."

The winners this year were awarded with medals and some of the best graphics cards from ASUS. Team ATE from Mumbai won the first place in Counter Strike followed by 3GP-Anarchy from Mumbai in the second place. Dota All Stars saw team Error from Bangalore emerging as the winner and team OMF from Chennai as the runner up. Ben 'Raid' Varghese of Mumbai won the Call of Duty 2 and Parth 'Razor from Ahmedabad came in second. In the F.E.A.R. gaming tournament, Arun 'RulesZZZxx' Ravi from Mumbai claimed the top spot with Ankush 'Blaster' Gupta from Jaipur winning the second place.

Both professional and hobby gamers attended this event in large numbers.

A professional gamer, Mikhail 'Rshkhn' Mehera from ATE said, "Gamers never get to see such a high-end gaming setup which was a great attraction in WGT this year. Many good teams from the country participated this time giving a tough competition for all the gamers."
