People took to the streets in Haryanas Yamunanagar District on Wednesday demanding police action against a relative of the high-caste village head for his role in the alleged rape of a low-caste girl.
Radaur (Haryana), Dec 20 : People took to the streets in Haryana's Yamunanagar District on Wednesday demanding police action against a relative of the high-caste village head for his role in the alleged rape of a low-caste girl.
Traffic was held up for hours in Radaur town, as protestors sought the arrest of the brother of the head of Bans Village.
Police had to resort to a baton charge to disperse the agitating mob from the Saharanpur-Kurukshetra Highway.
According to C.S. Rao, Superintendent of Police, Yamunanagar, three Deputy Superintendents of Police, a Sub Divisional Magistrate and other local officials tried to pacify the protestors, but failed.
Several villagers were injured in the clash.
