Maoists blow up rail track in Bihar, traffic restored

The rail traffic that was disrupted after the Communist Party of India (Maoists) rebels today blew up a railway track at Rajapatti station in Bihars Saran district has been restored.

Chapra, Dec 1 : The rail traffic that was disrupted after the Communist Party of India (Maoists) rebels today blew up a railway track at Rajapatti station in Bihar's Saran district has been restored.

They blew up the track during a 24-hour shutdown called to protest against arrest and ill treatment being given to its secretary Lal Babu Sahni alias Bhaskarji at high security Beur Central Jail in Patna.

According to Railway Protection Force sources, extremists of the banned outfit planted an explosive devise on Chapra-Gopalganj section in which about two-metre stretch of the rail line was damaged.

There were no casualties in the blast, they added.

The CPI (Maoist) has called the shutdown in the districts of Saran, Tirhut and Champaran.

Sahni was arrested along with an aid from Patna on November 22 with hundreds of claymore mines, hand grenades and other explosives.
