A low voter turnout was witnessed during the first four hours polling in the second and final phase of Assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh.

Shimla,Dec 19:A low voter turnout was witnessed during the first four hours polling in the second and final phase of Assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh.

Reports said that the voter turnout was an estimated 10-15 percent,but added that it could go up during the day.

Top leaders of the state,including Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, opposition leaders Prem Kumar Dhumal, Shanta Kumar and Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma cast their votes this morning.

After casting his vote,Singh expressed his confidence about the Congress returning to power in the state.

Meanwhile,a report from the Renuka constituency in thr State's Sirmaur District,said that BSP candidate Prithvi Singh two of his supporters were allegedly beaten up by Congress workers.

Acase has been lodged with the Renuka police station.

The BJP's chief Mmnisterial nominee,Prem Kumar Dhumal,also claimed that his party is on the victory path after casting his vote in his native village of Samirpur in Hamirpur District.
