A decomposed body was today found in a sack at Parulbari village in Nandigram as police dug up a grave in a paddy field.

Kolkata, Dec 12 : A decomposed body was today found in a sack at Parulbari village in Nandigram as police dug up a grave in a paddy field.

The Bhumi Uchched Pratirodh Committee (BUPC), which opposes the land acquisition for the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Nandigram, has claimed that the body belongs to one of their supporters, Harun Pramanik.

The body has been sent to Nandigram Police Station.BUPC leader Abdul Samad was present in the spot when police dug up the grave.

He alleged that Harun was an active member of the BUPC and was abducted on November 7 by the CPI (M) cadres.

The CRPF personnel present in Nandigarm got a tip off from local people about the presence of bodies in the area.

On Tuesday they had found bullet covers in the adjoining areas.

The BUPC are alleging that their supporters were abducted and killed by the CPI (M) cadres during the violence that rocked this part of the State earlier this year.

The digging of the grave inside a paddy field took place in presence of Shantiram Gorai, Block Development Officer of Nandigram.

To prevent tension and clashes security forces cordoned off the area since Tuesday. The Superintendent of Police of East Midnapore, S S Panda also visited the spot.
