Wagah Dec 12 : Indian Border Security Force (BSF) and Pakistan Rangers today held talks about the issues relating to the border of the two countries here, as part of their quarterly meeting.
A 10-member Pakistani delegation, led Deputy Director General Pakistan Rangers, Brigadier M Qaiser Khan Tareen today reached the Indian side of the Wagah border and held meetings with Indian officials led by Deputy Inspector General of the BSF G S Virk.
They discussed border management issues like inadvertent crossing, smuggling, problems faced by farmers living in the border areas, illegal construction on either side of the international border, repair of border pillars and others.
Speaking to reporters, Brigadier Tareen said that the core issue of the meeting was to save the lives of innocent people who were living very closely on International border on both sides.
DIG Virk said that the BSF has returned 40 Pakistani nationals, who had inadvertently crossed into India, after they were satisfied of their innocence, and added that the border guarding forces are entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining peace on either side of the boundary and ensuring safety and security of respective people along the border.
