Lucknow, Aug 8 : A fourteen-year-old boy has designed and assembled a car at a cost of over 700 dollar, using scrap.
Chandan Verma, working in a garage after his school hours, salvaged and accumulated discarded bits and pieces from the garage to assemble his dream project.
Verma, who has been fond of cars since his childhood, said: "I saved some amount from my pocket money and invested it in my work. I didn't even know if the car would be functional or not."
I wasn't bothered by anything else other than the fact that I wanted to make a car, he added.
He said the car could easily manoeuvre narrow and busy lanes of the city unlike other bulky four-wheelers.
Workers in the garage are pleasantly surprised by Verma's innovation.
"At such a low cost, one can enjoy the benefits of a four-wheeled car. It is a two-seater and is fuel efficient, giving a mileage of about 40 miles/litre of petrol," said Ranjeet Singh, a worker.
Like a professional car designer, Verma initially invested his time in making a prototype of his dream car before going ahead with the real one.
