A 45-day-old girl has become the youngest person in the country to get a Permanent Account Number (PAN) from the tax authorities.
Chennai, Aug 8 : A 45-day-old girl has become the youngest person in the country to get a Permanent Account Number (PAN) from the tax authorities.
Akshithaa received a Permanent Tax Account Number (PAN) after her father made an application to the city's Income Tax department.
Her father, S. Balamurugan feels it was the right thing to do after he made certain investments on Akshithaa's behalf.
He feels the initiative would ensure a safe and secure future for his child.
"I applied for a PAN card in the name of Akshithaa, feeling that she is a girl child and her future should be secure. Within fifteen days, I got the card. I think she is the first child in India to acquire a PAN card," said Balamurugan.
Balamurugan also wishes to invest in share market on her behalf.
Born in June, Akshithaa already has a savings account and a fixed deposit in her name.
Permanent Account Number is mandatory in India for monetary and bank transactions beyond a certain limit. It is also a prerequisite for purchase of certain movable and immovable properties.
