At least fifteen passengers of the Jodhpur-Howrah express were injured when the train derailed at Juhi Bridge near here on Tuesday afternoon.
Kanpur, Aug 7 : At least fifteen passengers of the Jodhpur-Howrah express were injured when the train derailed at Juhi Bridge near here on Tuesday afternoon.
Officials said two engines and two coaches of the train derailed at the Juhi Bridge, about 8 kilometres from Kanpur, but no casualties were reported.
Gurbachan Singh, Inspector General, Railways, said that if the coaches had overturned, then there would have been a chance of casualties.
"Doctors have informed me that none (of the 15 injured) have sustained serious injuries," Singh added.
Saurab, a passenger on the train, said he was looking for his brother.
"I don't know where my brother is, I can't find him...the compartments were full of people," he said.
Rescue workers and a railway medical team swung into action to pull out passengers from the derailed coaches. The injured have been shifted to local hospitals.
