Sonia Gandhi helped in locking Indo-US nuke deal: Website

Congress party President and United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi deserves all applause and accolade for locking the Indo-US civil nuclear deal that would be strategically paramount for the country, a website has said in its analysis.

New Delhi, Aug 7 : Congress party President and United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi deserves all applause and accolade for locking the Indo-US civil nuclear deal that would be strategically paramount for the country, a website has said in its analysis.

"The India-US nuclear deal is taking place because Sonia is convinced that it is in our energy and national interest," www.politicsparty.com said.

Stating that Sonia is the real architect of the nuke deal, the website has criticised those who are opposing it saying, " Those who are opposing the India-US nuclear deal are doing so because they do not want India to benefit from a strategic partnership with the US. India's enemies are manipulating those who are opposing the deal."

The deal would help the country in attaining its energy requirements and would make us self-sufficient in the energy sector. The deal would also help in poverty alleviation, as industries, farmers and transportation would get unlimited energy, the website said.

Urging New Delhi to sign the deal in September, it said that the nuke deal would help the country in containing the military axis of China-Pakistan and the anti-India operations by utilising the strategic partnership with US.

Commenting on deal's approval in the US Congress, the website said," The US President Bush will persuade the US political system and they will give their nod because India as a strategic partner is a necessity for US's strategic interest."
