Khowai (Tripura) Aug 6 : Members of the banned All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) on late Sunday night killed three members of a tribal family in a remote village bordering Bangladesh in the Tripura's Khowai sub-division.
Locals said that a group of ten to fifteen militants carrying automatic weapons fired bullets indiscriminately at a house killing three members of the family.
The three tribals -- a mother and her two sons -- have been identified as Krishnapati (55), Malandra Debbarma (35) and Gogendra Debbarma (27).However, one more member of the family escaped by hiding in a nearby bush.
According to police, ATTF members targeted the family of a former militant whose son had fled the rebel camp and is still absconding.
A security alert has been sounded in the region.
The All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF), earlier known as All Tripura Tribal Force, has been active since 1990, and most of the group's cadres camp in Bangladesh, which Dhaka has been denying.
