New Delhi, Aug 6 : Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh today reviewed the conservation and development plan of river Yamuna and decided to set up a high powered committee to look into it.
Delhi Lieutenant Governor and the State Chief Minister will jointly head the high-powered committee.
"The committee would have participation of all stakeholders and will commission studies on Yamuna river conservation and development," a release from the Prime Minister's Office stated.
Dr. Singh noted that river pollution is a major concern and that the execution of the sewerage and drainage plan as prepared by the Delhi Jal Board would help in significantly improving the water quality of Yamuna.
