Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) Chairman Bhim Singh has sought Centres intervention to alleviate the suffering of 11,000 Jammu Dogra migrants living in relief camps.
New Delhi, Aug 6 : Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) Chairman Bhim Singh has sought Centre's intervention to alleviate the suffering of 11,000 Jammu Dogra migrants living in relief camps.
Bhim Singh on Sunday met Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil and submitted a letter highlighting the plight of Jammu migrants.
Between 1996 and 1998, nearly 11,000 people were forced out of their homes in Doda, Udhampur, Mahore, Rajori and Poonch areas of Jammu.
Bhim Singh alleged that the State Government since March 2004 has not provided any relief to the migrants, in spite of the November 25, 2002 directions of the Supreme Court and again the apex court's final judgement of July 13, 2006.
He demanded immediate relief both in cash and kind to all the persons residing in various camps, including Talwara Camp, Reasi, and registered with the authorities.
Bhim Singh further alleged that the migrants living in starvation, chaos and without shelter resorted to selling their children, to which administration never responded.
"This was one of the reasons that the Panthers Party withdrew from the Congress-PDP coalition in June this year," he said.
Bhim Singh urged for Home Minister Patil's "immediate intervention".
