Seven injured in Assam twin blasts

At least seven people were injured in twin bomb blasts allegedly triggered off by the rebel United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) in Sibsagar District of Assam today.

Sibsagar (Assam), Aug 5 : At least seven people were injured in twin bomb blasts allegedly triggered off by the rebel United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) in Sibsagar District of Assam today.

The first blast took place in front of Sonari police station of the district, a police official said.

The second blast took place within ten minutes at a Sibsagar bus stand in which seven people were injured, he added.

The improvised explosive device that triggered the second blast was hidden in a bicycle, police said.

Police said they suspected that ULFA's strikeforce, 28th battalion, was behind the blasts.

The injured have been admitted to the Sibsagar civil hospital, where the condition of two was stated to be critical.
