Shanghai has imposed a rather strange rule upon its taxi drivers.
New Delhi, August 31 : Shanghai has imposed a rather strange rule upon its taxi drivers.
The Chinese city has banned its cabbies from yawning while driving, in a bid to give a face-lift to the city's cabs.
Shao Xueqing, general manager of a local taxi company, said that the rule was intended for keeping cabbies from driving when tired and exhausted.
However, Xueqing admitted that the rule would be hard to enforce, as it was not possible to punish a driver just because he yawned, reports China Daily.
One driver, Gong, who has been driving for more than 10 years, dubbed the regulation "ridiculous and unreasonable".
Gong said though he always kept from yawning before passengers, he still believed it was a natural way to get rid of exhaustion.
Some passengers in Shanghai, however, conceded that they would worry about safety if a driver kept yawning while driving.
