Volker Kauder, the head of Germanys ruling Christian Democratic Party (CDU), called on External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee here on Thursday.The visit assumes significance in the wake of the India asking Germany to prevent attacks on its citizens following a racist assault on eight Indians by a group of 50 Germans at a town fair in the eastern German town of Muegeln in Saxony.
New Delhi, Aug 31 : Volker Kauder, the head of Germany's ruling Christian Democratic Party (CDU), called on External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee here on Thursday.The visit assumes significance in the wake of the India asking Germany to prevent attacks on its citizens following a racist assault on eight Indians by a group of 50 Germans at a town fair in the eastern German town of Muegeln in Saxony.
About 70 police officers were needed to disperse the mob who threw bottles at the Indians.
According to a government spokesman, Chancellor Angela Merkel has termed the attack as "extremely deplorable and shameful."
India's Foreign Ministry asked the Germany Government to prevent further attacks on Indians.
