Rashtriya Janata Dal MP Rajesh Kumar Manjhi, who was caught while taking a woman on an official tour pretending as his wife, was today suspended from the Lok Sabha for 30 sittings.
New Delhi, Aug 30 : Rashtriya Janata Dal MP Rajesh Kumar Manjhi, who was caught while taking a woman on an official tour pretending as his wife, was today suspended from the Lok Sabha for 30 sittings.
His suspension comes after Leader of the House Pranab Mukherjee moved a motion against the Gaya MP, which was adopted by a voice vote.
Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee termed it as another "very sorry incident."
The House also restrained Manjhi from taking his spouse or companion on official tours till the conclusion of the 14th Lok Sabha.
Today's motion was moved following the Committee to Inquire into Misconduct of Members of Lok Sabha found Manjhi guilty of cheating and impersonation.
The V Kishore Chandra S Deo headed committee said that Manjhi was guilty of undertaking air journeys from Delhi to Mumbai along with a woman personating her as his spouse on March 23, 2006 and February 21, 2007.
