The Union Cabinet today gave its go ahead for the release of additional instalment of dearness allowance and dearness relief to Central Government employees and pensioners respectively, which became due from July 1 this year.
New Delhi, Aug 30 : The Union Cabinet today gave its go ahead for the release of additional instalment of dearness allowance and dearness relief to Central Government employees and pensioners respectively, which became due from July 1 this year.
The 12 monthly average of the All India Consumer Price Index for the period ending June 2007, works out to587.62 which constitutes an increase of 91.82 per cent over the base index of 306.33. 50 per cent of DA has been merged with basic pay with effect from April 1, 2004.
The rate of DA from 1.7.2007 will be 41 per cent for all Central Government employees, constituting an increase of six per cent over the existing 35 per cent.
The rate of dearness relief from July 1, 2007 will accordingly be 41 per cent for all pensioners, family pensioners of the Central Government.
Another important decision taken by the Cabinet was approval for introduction of official amendments to the Factories (Amendment) Bill 2005 pending in the Lok Sabha since August 16, 2005 to amend section 66 of the Factories Act, 1948.
This amendment will provide flexibility in the matter of employment of women during night hours.
