The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has said that B S Yediyurappa, who is currently Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, will become the next Chief Minister as per the power-sharing agreement between the coalition partners.
Bangalore, Aug 24 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has said that B S Yediyurappa, who is currently Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, will become the next Chief Minister as per the power-sharing agreement between the coalition partners.
The transfer of Chief Minister's post from Janata Dal (Secular) to the BJP will take place as per the understanding reached earlier, BJP leader Sushma Swaraj told reporters here.
The transfer of power is due for October.
The transfer of power is being severely debated with both the parties making contradictory statements on a daily basis.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has convened the JD(S)-BJP Coordination Committee meeting, later today, in the wake of bitter relation between the coalition parties.
The meeting would discuss controversial issues over which the BJP decided to boycott yesterday's Cabinet meeting. The BJP later changed its mind, after Kumaraswamy threatened to dissolve the State Assembly.The JD (S)-BJP Government has a remaining tenure of 20 months.
