Kanpur, Aug 23 : A 40 year-old man in Kanpur has claimed possesses rare antiques, which he is willing to display in a museum.
Babbu Lamba, a businessman, has been collecting antiques, since he was a teenager. He claims some of these antiques are over 200 years old.
Lamba says his father and grandfather, both of whom were fond of collecting rare objects, inspired him.
"I want to build a museum in Kanpur and bring fame to the city. Moreover, I want to use the money earned from the museum for getting poor girls married off, or for people who cannot afford treatment for their ailments," said Lamba.
He claims to have in his possession a refrigerator and fan run by kerosene oil, the first edition of Thomas' gramophone, various lamps, a mini gramophone, locks, calculators, watches, chandeliers, post cards, a typewriter and a transistor radio.
"We have travelled to different parts of the country but have never seen such a rare collection before. I wish that he collects more rare items and his name comes in the Guinness Book of World Records," said Santosh Gupta, Lamba's friend.
Lamba also has a collection of rare coins.
