The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for signing of Mutual Legal Assistance Treat in Criminal Matters with Vietnam, and also ratification of the treaty.

New Delhi, Aug 23 : The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for signing of Mutual Legal Assistance Treat in Criminal Matters with Vietnam, and also ratification of the treaty.

The treaty is expected to enhance effectiveness of cooperation between the two countries in the field of mutual legal assistance in criminal matters.

It will provide the widest measure of mutual legal assistance in connection with investigations, prosecutions and other proceedings related to criminal matters.

Similar Treaties on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters have been entered into with Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom, Canada, Russian Federation, France, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, United State of America, South Africa, Bahrain, Thailand, Kuwait, South Korea, Singapore, Belarus, Mauritius and Spain.

The treaty will enter into force from the date of exchange of the instruments of ratification.
