The number of terrorists related violence in Jammu and Kashmir has significantly dipped in last one year and has come down by 33 per cent till July, 2007, as compared to the same period in 2006, according to Union Home Ministry.
New Delhi, Aug 21 : The number of terrorists related violence in Jammu and Kashmir has significantly dipped in last one year and has come down by 33 per cent till July, 2007, as compared to the same period in 2006, according to Union Home Ministry.
The receding trend in the terror related incidents has been observed in the last three years with 2006 recording 16 percent decline.
Giving a detail figure of soldiers killed or injured by the militants in last three years in the State, Union State Minister of Home Affairs Sriprakash Jaiswal, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha stated that total number of soldiers killed this year is 70, while the figure in 2006 and 2005 were 159 and 204 respectively.
However, the infiltration figure from across the LoC remains by and large same. According to the army, the number of successful infiltration attempts by the terrorists showed no significant dip and the month of April recorded a spurt with the infiltration figure becoming three times.
