Balasore (Orissa), Aug.21 : Sporting a moustache may have ceased to fascinate of the youngsters in metropolitan cities, but for 34-year-old Siba Prasad Mallick of Orissa his moustache is his biggest pride.
Siba's moustache recently earned him a reward of a 700 square feet land by his Block Head when he succeeded in pulling a Yamaha motorbike weighing 105.5 kilograms and a man weighing 65 kilogram as its rider.
Siba, who has two feet long moustache, got the reward for bringing fame to his native place Villa Village in Balasore District and Orissa State.
He also pulled another bike weighing 114 kilograms with a 65-kilogram man sitting on it, for two kilometres.
First time in July 5, 2007, he pulled a bicycle, which added to his confidence to pull a motorcycle.
Siba earns his bread and butter as a daily wager. He says that he nurtures his moustache with mustard and coconut oil every day and had started practicing for the stunt using chillies at the outset.
Siba said: "I started practicing for this by hanging lemon and chilies with the help of a string to my moustache. After that I started hanging a brick to my moustache. The first big thing that I pulled with my moustache was a bicycle. After that I thought of pulling a motorcycle."
Siba said he would soon try to pull a four-wheeler with his moustache to set up a record.
Onlookers believe that Siba can accomplish the feat.
Suresh Chandra Das, Siba's friend, said: "I know him since childhood. He has been doing unusual things since childhood. He has made our area and our State proud. We hope that his name will be entered in the record book soon."
Siba is not the first Indian to perform a stunt with his moustache.
A 52-year-old man has earlier lifted 10 bricks weighing 50 kilograms with his moustache. Another Indian man lifted LPG cylinders weighing 35 kilograms with his moustache.
Growing long moustaches holds an eternal appeal for the people of India though the trend appears to be fast changing with the younger generation especially in cities.
