Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chief Benazir Bhutto has urged President General Pervez Musharraf to quit army so that younger and capable generals take over the office of Chief of the Army Staff.

Dubai, Aug 21 : Pakistan People's Party (PPP) chief Benazir Bhutto has urged President General Pervez Musharraf to quit army so that younger and capable generals take over the office of Chief of the Army Staff.

"General Musharraf needs to resign to clear the way to promotion for younger, capable generals," the Khaleej Times quoted the former Prime Minister as saying.

Commenting on the power-sharing deal with Musharraf, she next two weeks would be crucial for working out any arrangement with the former.

"There is no agreement yet, the next two weeks will be crucial," Benazir said.

However, she ruled out Bush Administration's role in "engineering a deal to keep key ally Musharraf in power by having Benazir and her Pakistan's People's Party join his government as junior coalition partners."Benazir went on to say that no matter if there would be a deal or not, she would return to Pakistan after September this year. She added that right now she felt "excited and tense".
