15 al-Qaeda suspects arrested in Manipur

The Assam Rifles have arrested 15 men suspected to be al-Qaeda operatives from Moreh town in Manipurs Chandel District bordering Myanmar.

Imphal, Aug 19 : The Assam Rifles have arrested 15 men suspected to be al-Qaeda operatives from Moreh town in Manipur's Chandel District bordering Myanmar.

According to media reports, eight are from Myanmar, six from Bangladesh and one is a Kuki tribal from Manipur.

The militants were nabbed from a house in Moreh, about 120 km from Imphal on Friday, following a tip-off.

They were apparently going to Bangladesh via Manipur.

Six of them have reportedly admitted to working with the finance and publicity wing of the al-Qaeda.
