Chandigarh, Aug.20 : Admirers of Rajan Zed, the well-known Hindu chaplain from Nevada, who read the first Hindu prayer in United States (US) Senate in Washington DC recently in its 218 years history, have floated a "Friends of Rajan Zed" organization.

This non-profit consortium; a gathering point of like-minded individuals, friends, colleagues, and community; will work for maximizing the human potential to promote and preserve peace, ecumenical vision, universal values, prayer for the humankind, etc., according to Dharam Loonaa, President of Friends of Rajan Zed, who is also chairperson of Prayer and Peace Circle.

Friends of Rajan Zed, according to its Secretary Navdeep Asija, has urged Government of India to suitably honor/reward Zed for the work he is doing to promote culture and peace. They are writing to Nevada Governor Jim Gibbons to declare July 12, when Zed read the universal prayer from ancient Sanskrit scriptures in US Senate, as "Rajan Zed day".

Loonaa says that Friends of Rajan Zed, created to honor Zed and his timeless vision of "creating unity while celebrating diversity", will provide forum to Rajan Zed enthusiasts of all ages "to learn to live together with our seriously different traditions". It will inspire individuals and communities to carry on Zed's dream of "let us learn from each other as we are headed in the same direction", Loonaa adds.

Friends of Rajan Zed, besides discussion clubs, is also planning of launching a website and a newsletter, Asija says.
