New Delhi, Aug 2 : The eight round of India-Bangladesh Home Secretary level talks will begin here today as part of the bilateral institutional mechanism set up in 1994 to resolve security and border management issues.
Bangladesh Home Secretary Mohammad Abdul Karim will lead his five-member team at the talks, while his Indian counterpart Madhukar Gupta will head the Indian delegation.
Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) Director General and Border Security Force (BSF) Director General will also attend the two-day talks.
Issues relating to peaceful management of border, security, cross-border movements and enhanced police co-operation are likely to be discussed at the talks among others.
Bangladesh is likely to raise some other issues including, demarcation of 6.5 km boundary, exchange of enclaves and halting the alleged killing of Bangladeshi citizens along the border. Dhaka may also press for implementation of the 1974 Mujib-Indira Land Boundary Agreement.
The visiting delegation is also likely to go to the National Police Academy at Hyderabad before it returns to Dhaka.
The seventh round of talks was held at Dhaka in August last year.
