IAF pilots of microlight expedition receive warm hospitality at Karachi

The IAF pilots envisaging to break the world record in circumnavigation of the globe today landed their microlight aircraft at the Karachi airport amidst warm greetings from the Pakistani officials and the local Base Commander of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF).

New Delhi/Karachi, Aug 18 : The IAF pilots envisaging to break the world record in circumnavigation of the globe today landed their microlight aircraft at the Karachi airport amidst warm greetings from the Pakistani officials and the local Base Commander of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF).

Officials of Pakistan Airport Authority and the PAF greeted the two pilots -Wing Commander Rahul Monga and Wing Commander Anil Kumar- and wished them best of luck in their endeavour to set a new world record.

IAF spokesperson in New Delhi said that the 'proactive' actions and the warm hospitality rendered to the two pilots by the Pakistani officials, during their close to two-hour-long stay there, were heartening.

The microlight aircraft later reached Bhuj in Gujarat after it took off from Karachi at 1700 hours PST, and is on its way to Hindan airbase near New Delhi from where it was flagged off on June 1.

On Sunday, when the aircraft is scheduled to land at the Hindan air base they would have completed the circumnavigation of the globe in 79 days beating the previous world record by 20 days.

However, they had earlier planned to set the record of 64 days that included 19 days of rest and maintenance of wear and tear.
