The Government today informed the Lok Sabha that 700 courts in the four metropolitan cities of the country have been computerised under a Government scheme and computerisation of other 781 courts were have also been completed.
New Delhi, Aug 17 : The Government today informed the Lok Sabha that 700 courts in the four metropolitan cities of the country have been computerised under a Government scheme and computerisation of other 781 courts were have also been completed.
The National Informatics Centre (NIC), the implementing agency for the project, is carrying out the computerisation work of around 13,000 District and Subordinate courts in the country as a part of government scheme of making the country's judiciary in sync with the latest technology.
The first phase of the scheme is to be implemented at a cost of Rs. 442 crore and NIC has been allotted an amount of Rs. 187 crore for carrying out the work till March 2007.
The NIC has commenced implementation of the scheme by providing laptops to all Judicial Officers involving an expenditure of Rs. 36 crore approximately. All the three phases of the scheme are likely to be completed in five years.
