Jaipur, Aug15 : In sync with the patriotic fervour that overwhelms the country every Independence Day, a temple here has decorated its main deity "Thakurji" in the colours of the national flag.

The main priest at the Bhaiji Ka Temple has embellished "Thakurji" with a tricolour headgear and other ornaments here. Moreover, two national flags have been placed on either sides of the deity.

The objective is to inspire patriotism among the devotees. Besides, the step reflects the joyous mood of national celebration being observed across the country.

Mahant Purushottam, the temple priest, said: "The devotees here see their country as Bharat Mata (the mother) who is pious. To celebrate the mother's freedom, we have decorated the deity with tricolour. Also, this year Teej (festival of swings) and Independence Day have fallen on the same date and devotees are happy."

Devotees are delighted to notice the Lord dressed in tricolours.

Everyone has appreciated such a step by the temple priest that may inspire a sense of social duty and nationalistic feeling among the devotees along side religion.

Shyam Soni, one of the devotees at the temple, said: "I have never seen any God dressed in tricolour earlier. I felt good. The tricolour headgear of Thakurji motivated me that I should think about working harder for my nation as it is my Dharma (religious duty)."
