Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Al-Moualem meets PM

Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Al-Moualem met Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on Monday.

New Delhi, Aug 14 : Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Al-Moualem met Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on Monday.

Al-Moualem later met his Indian counterpart Pranab Mukherjee and Commerceinister Kamal Nath.

A spokesperson of the Indian Foreign Office said Al-Moualem would discuss "various aspects of bilateral relations" during his three-day visit.

Walid will meet Minister for Steel, Chemicals and Fertilisers Ram Vilas Paswan and Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahmed today.

Trade between the two countries stands at 33 million-dollars, and is expected to double over the next five years.

Syria is reportedly looking forward to Indian investments in the fields of oil and gas exploration and science and technology.

The last visit by a Syrian Foreign Minister to India was in 2002.
