Michelin introduces 'Regrooving' - a unique revolutionary initiative in tyre industry in India

Sushil Tyres becomes the first dealer to offer the service for optimizing tyre performance

Hyderabad... 14 August 2007: Michelin - the world's number one tyre manufacturer with a presence in over 200 countries launched it unique revolutionary initiative - Regrooving - in India at Hyderabad on Monday. Mr. Jason Cooper, Road Staff Manager, Michelin India Tyres Ltd. while addressing the meet on the occasion said that Michelin is introducing this added value service to ensure that each Michelin tyre provides maximum mileage performance and economy. Sushil Tyres will be the first dealer to offer this unique service.

Regrooving Michelin tyres is an innovative solution for optimizing tyre performance and efficiency and helps maximize fuel economy for trucks and buses, said Mr. Ratheesh Nair, Area Sales Manager (TB), Michelin India. We are proud to bring the benefits of tyre regrooving to our truck and bus fleet operators, he said. He urged people to utilize this service and reap benefits of anything up to a 10 per cent saving on fuel bills.

Operators spend the most on fuel and tyres. With the cost of the fuel going up day by day, achieving maximum utilization from tyres is the only option. Regrooving will be best option to them to optimize tyre performance. The regrooving process cuts the worn out tyres with the aid of a special machine in the same fashion as they were originally. The internal layers of the tyre are not affected by this process and no damage is caused to the integrity of the casing. The regrooving process for each tyre costs Rs.475/- only.

Michelin through its research, expertise and technological know-how strives to design tyres that have a minimal impact on the environment while making no concessions to safety. Regrooving a tyre multiplies its service life enabling tyre mileage performance to be increased without having to change the tyre. Thus, tyres are reused optimally, which in turn conserves oil and limits consumption of earth's natural resources. It is one way to help preserve and sustain the environment.

For most fleet, transport and lorry operators, fuel is one of the major contributors to operating expenses. Michelin Truck & Bus Radial Tyres help bring substantial savings to the bottomline. Michelin Tyres are specifically designed and engineered to deliver improved fuel efficiency. An advantage which many users in India are already reaping benefits from. With the launch of this service, the operating costs will be driven down further. Regrooving extends tyre life and increases the tyres' most fuel-efficient state, helping maximize fuel economy and improving the overall levels of grip. All Michelin tyres are specifically designed to be regrooved by incorporating a layer of rubber sufficiently deep to allow a high quality regroove to take place.

Michelin Group is a France-based company that manufactures and sells tyres for a variety of vehicles, publishes maps and guides, and operates digital services. Michelin - the global tyre giant was founded in 1863. It was Michelin that invented the Radial tyre in 1946. Michelin manufactures its tyres in over 80 countries worldwide and sell tyres and services in over 200 countries.
