India release 72 Pak prisoners

Over 72 Pakistani prisoners were handed over today to Pakistan at the Wagah Border on the occasion of that countrys 61st Independence Day.

Wagah Border, Aug 14 : Over 72 Pakistani prisoners were handed over today to Pakistan at the Wagah Border on the occasion of that country's 61st Independence Day.

"We are happy that we are going back to Pakistan. I've been in prison for 12-years," Amjad Ali, a released Pakistan prisoner said said.

Other repatriated prisoners also expressed their happiness and wished fervently for peace between both countries.

"It is our wish that peace between the two countries sustains," said Mohammad Akram, another released Pakistani prisoner.

On Monday, Pakistan had repatriated 134 Indian prisoners, including 48 fishermen from its jails.

Last month, both countries had agreed to release all arrested fishermen and speed up the release of other civilian prisoners.
