All India Minorities Front President S. M. Asif on Saturday strongly condemned the activities of the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) and the Karbi Longri National Liberation Front (KLNLF).
New Delhi, Aug.11 : All India Minorities Front President S. M. Asif on Saturday strongly condemned the activities of the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) and the Karbi Longri National Liberation Front (KLNLF).
Reacting to the killing of 14 people in Assam's Karbi Anglong District on Friday night, Asif said that as the ULFA and other rebel organisations have urged people in North East to boycott the Independence Day celebrations, it is the duty of the state to keep the people protected.
Asif demanded that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who is a Rajya Sabha MP from Assam, should personally assure the Hindi-speaking people of his State of their safety.
Asif also said that it was shocking to know that since January, at least 70 Hindi-speaking workers have been killed in Assam.
Asif said that the targeting Biharis and non Assamiyas would lead to clashes in the state if the state did not take measures to keep people protected.
