President Pratibha Patil on Friday greeted UPA-Left candidate Hamid Ansari for his election as the 13th Vice President of the country.
New Delhi, Aug 10 : President Pratibha Patil on Friday greeted UPA-Left candidate Hamid Ansari for his election as the 13th Vice President of the country.
"The President spoke to Ansari over phone and greeted him over his election," said S M Khan, Press Secretary to the President.
Ansari won the Vice Presidential polls by defeating his nearest rival Najma Heptullah of the opposition NDA by 233 votes.
Ansari secured 455 votes, thirty more than expected, from the members of the Parliament, who constitute the Vice Presidential Electoral College.
