Agartala, Aug 10 : The Left parties' protest rally to mark the 62nd anniversary of the bombing of the Japanese city of Nagasaki by the US forces turned out to be platform for the leaders to vent their anger over the Indo-US civilian nuclear energy cooperation.
"Our sovereignty will totally been disrupted by this (nuclear) agreement," State Finance Minister Badal Choudhury thundered during the rally.
During the annual anti-US rally where students participate in large numbers, the protestors shouted slogans against the nuclear deal with some students stating that the "nuclear energy should be use for betterment of the mankind".The civilian nuclear energy cooperation deal that was recently finalised by India and the US, envisages supply of Uranium to New Delhi for generating electrical energy.
The protestors also shouted anti-Bush slogans and condemned the 'illegal occupation' of Iraq by the US.
