Global Best Practice With Cambridge

New Delhi, Delhi, India

The 7th International Children's Festival of Performing Arts week organised by Ryan International School and sponsored by University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) came to a close today with CIE hosting the first international education conference 'Global Best Practice with Cambridge' for teachers and head teachers across South Asia.

The participants included 330 delegates, representing 168 schools from India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. They were able to share and exchange ideas on their expertise in the field of international education and share tools with one another to promote best practices. The conference included a series of case studies presented by international curriculum experts from Cambridge and British Council and other leading practitioners, followed by interesting workshops to explore particular areas of interest in depth like curriculum, teacher training, professional development, new technologies and publishing to enhance the learning and teaching experience of students and teachers.

As part of the programme of the Global Best Practice with Cambridge Conference, CIE awarded the first Cambridge Inspirational Teacher Awards in India. Mr. Rod Pryde, Regional Director-South Asia, British Council, presented these awards to three teachers - Nonda Chatterjee from The Cambridge School, Kolkata, Arun Shrigopal Totala from Podar International School, Mumbai and Mallika Asirvatham from Sholai School, Kodaikanal.

The award has been constituted to recognise the achievements of teachers in Cambridge Centres across India. Paul Beedle, Manager Professional Development Certification and Bob Burkill, Chief Examiner, Cambridge International Diploma selected the nominated teachers from various CIE schools for the award.

Ann Puntis, Chief Executive, CIE stated, "University of Cambridge International Examinations is really proud to have been an associate sponsor of the 7th International Children's Festival for Performing Arts that has provided one of the biggest opportunities for children across the world to unite and perform together. It is with immense pleasure and satisfaction that we conclude this festival with a conference that reflects CIE's ambition to develop successful students by equipping their teachers with tools to provide the best educational experience. We hope to continue recognising Cambridge Inspirational Teachers who would have beneficial effect on learners and colleagues through their enterprising and innovation skills extended to the wider educational context"

The closing ceremony of 7th International Children's Festival for Performing Arts also witnessed grand theatre performances by groups and troupes of children from India, Nigeria, South Africa, Poland and Singapore. Lion King, Agony, Sa re ga ma tak dhina dhin, The sounds of Polish folklore and Tale of Bukit Merah are names of few presentations made by students from schools like Ryan International, The Natya Kalalayum School of music and dance, Xinmin Secondary etc. While presenting the award to the winner of Best One Act Play, Tom Austin, Director of International Development, CIE said "I was delighted to present such talented students with the award on behalf of University of Cambridge International Examinations. These young people were clearly inspired to work hard, learn new skills and create something very special".
