The 7th International Children's Festival of Performing Arts week being organised by Ryan International School and sponsored by University of Cambridge International Examination commenced yesterday with a traditional opening.
The lighting of the lamp by Honourable Ms. Shiela Dikshit, Chief Minister, was the start of a host of creative activities that involved around 5,000 children across 17 countries. The ceremony held at the Kamani Auditorium witnessed a large audience comprising VIPs, dignitaries, members of the organising committee, parents, teachers and students from participating countries.
The theme of the week (between 31st August - 3rd September) ' Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam' - the concept of ' the whole world is one' will ably demonstrate collective efforts of participating children from countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Croatia, Switzerland, Macedonia, South Africa, France, Cuba, Poland, Slovenia and Zambia. They will perform on a common platform provided by Ryan Foundation in association with Indian Council for Cultural Relations, University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE), Sangeet Kala Akademi, College of Art and National School of Drama. The five-day festival will have about 250 performances including interplay of ballets, one act plays, street theatres, puppet making, kite making and various forms of dance.
