Actor Suniel Shetty promotes cancer awareness among Jaipur kids

Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty interacted with children in Jaipur on Tuesday during a cancer awareness event.

Jaipur, Feb.26 :Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty interacted with children in Jaipur on Tuesday during a cancer awareness event.

Shetty is in the Pink City primarily to be a part of the cancer awareness campaign organised by the NGO, Bhagwan Mahavir Viklang Cancer Sahayita Samiti.

"I want to spread this message to support the fight against cancer. Cancer is curable unlike what most people think, but the fight for cancer cannly be successful with the support of the family and children. Everyone should give time to it because it can make a difference," said Shetty.

School children said they were too happy to meet Shetty.

"We are very happy to see Suniel Shetty who is spreading awareness among us about the cancer disease. He told us to avoid eating paan (betel leaf) and ghutka (combination of tobacco and a betel nut) and asked us to spread the message so that all stop having these injurious products," Arihant, one of the children who met the actor.

Cancer is a global challenge, leading to casualties all around the world. Worldwide approximately 11 million new cases of cancer are diagnosed every year and around seven million people die of the dreaded disease.

The common forms of cancer afflicting people are lung cancer, throat cancer, blood cancer. While breast cancer is the most common form of cancer among women.

Some of the major reasons for cancer are intake of tobacco, pan masala, alcohol along with environment pollution and sedentary life style etc.

An estimated 700,000 new cancer cases are reported in India annually and over 350,000 people die of it annually.
