Sarah Louise Heath Palin (Born on February 11, 1964) is a Republican politician and is the former Governor of Alaska. She is a former Vice Presidential candidate and the running mate of John McCain in the 2008 Presidential Election.

Chuck Heath is her father.

Sarah Palin is once a teenage beauty queen in her home state of Alaska. She is popular as Sarah Barracuda during her basketball days. She married her high-school sweetheart Todd and has five children - Track, Bristol, Willow, Piper and Trig.

In February 2010, an animated television sitcom Family Guy by Fox appeared to mock Palin's sons Trig's Down syndrome. Palin has taken to her Facebook page to hit back at episode. Voice actor Andrea Fay Friedman, who suffers Down Syndrome, has fired back at Palin by saying that she needs to chill out.

In August 2010, she said that her family has changed its behaviour after an author moved in next to her Wasilla home in Alaska to write a book on them.

Daughter's pregnancy news

The news of her daughter Bristol Palin being pregnant broke out in September 2008 putting Sarah Palin into a difficult situation as she was preparing for filing nomination for the Republican National Convention. Palin burst out laughing after hearing daughters pregnancy news thinking it was a joke and when Levi and Bristol waved the evidence at her she was was giggling so hysterically she couldn't stop.

Professional Biography

As a politician

Palin entered public life in 1992 in Alaska and served two terms on the Wasilla City Council till 1996. She was later elected and served as Wasilla mayor for two terms, the maximum stipulated limit, between 1996-2002. In 2002 she made a statewide campaign for the GOP nomination for Lieutenant Governor position but lost it. The same year, she become the Chairwomen for the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission by then Gov. Frank Murkowski. Differences cropped up the next year when she exposed ethics violations by Randy Ruedrich who was then the head of Alaskas Republican Party and a fellow commissioner on the AOGCC. In February 2010, she urged the tea parties to take over the Republican Party.

She lost the 2008 United States Presidential Elections Vice-President nomination.

As Alaska Governor

Palin become the Governor of Alaska in 2003 when she defeated a former governor in the general election.

In December 08, pressure mounted on her after racist emails on Obama being circulated by her states government staff members.

Resignation from the post

On July 3, 2009, Palin announced qutting from her Governor post prematurely ending her term which actually runs till 2010. Palin will cede control of the state to the lieutenant governor, Sean Parnell, on July 25, 2009. She made the announcement from the front of a lake outside her home in Wasilla, Alaska. Her announcement shocked Republicans and renewed speculations about her plans considering she has ambitions to run for the 2012 US President elections. Few say that legal fees to a tune of $500,000 that she need to pay to fight the 15 ethics complaints filed against her might have lead her to take the decision. An FBI Alaska spokesman confirmed that the bureau had no investigation into her activities as governor, as mayor or in any other capacity putting an end to rumours that featured on various blogs that said she might be under investigation on public corruption charges. Politicial analysts feel her quitting allows her to move out of Alaska and tour the whole country and campaign around America while another section feels it could end her president dreams. A day after her resignation announcement, John McCain said Palin can play leadership role as an ex-Governor. GOP feels Palin may not be making sense, but can still make dollars. Palin's attorney on Monday, July 06, 2009 said David Letterman off-color jokes has let her take the decision. The lawyer said there are no IRS audit, no federal investigation and no state investigation on her.

In February 2010, her senior adviser and spokeswoman, Meghan Stapleton, has resigned, saying she would like to give more time to her family and the responsibilities attached with that.

As running mate for John McCain

Sarah Palin is was named as Republican John McCain's running-mate in August 2008 during the 2008 US Elections. Few pictures of Sarah Palin posing nude appeared on the internet emerged hours after she is named as the running mate but her camp insists that the picture is fake.

Sarah, during her campaigns, introduces her hometown as Wasilla and puts on the tag 'small town common folk' but her financial records shows the Palins live anything but a common life when compared with their fellow residents. Their combined income of nearly a quarter-million dollars last year was five times the median household income for Wasilla's 7,000 residents.

In September 2008, Comedienne Sandra Bernhard expressed her disdain and said Palin would be "gang-raped by my big black brothers" if she enters Manhattan.

Most Australians does not feel Palin can run the win the Vice-presidential election but would like to see her as a barbecue mate.

Palin lost the 2008 US Vice-Presidential election. Despite this, McCain continued to trust Palin. In February 2010, he once again sought the help of Palin to defend his Arizona seat.

Trooper Gate scandal

Former Alaska Public Safety Commissioner Walter Monegan said that he feels relieved by a legislative report concluding that Governor Sarah Palin abused her authority by trying to have her former brother-in-law fired as a state police officer and that Palin's image is damaged in the process. Washington Post says the scam shows her in poor light.

2012 presidential dreams

Analysts say Sarah is preparing hard for the 2012 US Presidential Elections. However, her plans has taken a severe hit, as the latest survey has found her to be extremely unfavorable among Americans. In February 09, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton laughed off the idea of leaving the country if Palin wins the presidency.

Palin is ranked third in a poll of Republican presidential hopefuls for the elections.

A Pew Research Center/National Journal poll in August 2010 said that 38% of the Americans have expressed that they would be less likely to vote for a candidate that Palin campaigns for, while only 18 percent said her support would make them more likely to vote for that candidate.

Television appearance

During March 2010, Palin's travelogue series about Alaska has landed at the TLC network.

In April 2012, Sarah Palin reacted to the Colombia prostitution scandal. She said that the 48-year-old Secret Service agent deserved to be fired and said that the incident is a proof of symptom of government run amok. She said, "The president, for one, he better be wary, there, of when Secret Service is accompanying his family on vacation. They may be checking out the first lady instead of guarding her."

Sarah Palin's Alaska

Between 2010 and 2011, Sarah Palin has appeared in a 2010 reality show titled "Sarah Palin's Alaska" on the TLC channel. She along with her family were part of the reality show. The show was canceled after one season.

As an Author

Sarah Palin has revealed in October 2012 that her family is writing a book on fitness and self-discipline. Palin has made a moose chili and moose cheese dogs during a 2008 interview when she was the running mate of John McCain. It is not clear whether she has a contract to write the book.
