Professional Career

2012 Presidential Election

Mitt Romney contested for the office in the 2012 Presidential Election. He received the Republican nomination and chose Paul Ryan as his running mate.

On the election that was held on November 6, 2012 Mitt Romney lost to incumbent Barack Obama. Romney received 206 electoral votes against Barack Obama's 332. 270 electoral votes are required to win the election.

An adviser of Romney said that the Republican candidate was shell shocked on hearing the news that he lost the election as the Republicans are very confidence of victory on the evening of the election. Romney finally conceded after Colorado and Florida were also called for Obama. "We went into the evening confident we had a good path to victory, I don't think there was one person who saw this coming," said an adviser for Romney.

Mitt Romney has blamed his election loss on Barack Obama's "gifts" to minorities. He blamed the loss in a phone call to donors. The remark drew criticism from many of the Republicans

Post Election

After his loss at the November 6, 2012 Presidential Election Mitt Romney has kept a low profile. He was only seen in public a few times. Romney was pictured pumping gas during the Thanksgiving weekend and appeared with his family at Disneyland the next day. Romney's wife and son Matt were spotted in the audience at the "Dancing with the Stars" on 28 November 2012.

On 29 November 2012, President Barack Obama hosted a private lunch for Mitt Romney in a traditional meet-and-greet between the presidential rivals.
