George H. W. Bush

George Herbert Walker Bush is an American politician who served as the 41st President of the United States (1989–93). A Republican, he had previously served as the 43rd Vice President of the United States (1981–89), a congressman, an ambassador, a Director of Central Intelligence, and is currently the oldest surviving president.

He is the father of George W. Bush, the 43rd President of the United States, and Jeb Bush, former Governor of Florida.

George H. W. Bush took office in 1989 and served one term in the White House. Before serving as the President, he also served as a congressman, U.N. Ambassador, envoy to China, CIA director and vice president for two terms under Ronald Reagan.

As President, George H. W. Bush routed Iraq after former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait in 1990. After 20 months, he was defeated in his re-election bid to Bill Clinton.

George H. W. Bush has maintained an active lifestyle after his stint at the Office. He went skydiving to celebrate his 75th, 80th and 85th birthdays.

He met with former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev in November 2012 in Houston. In March 2012, Bush formally endorsed Republican Mitt Romney for president.

In November 2012, George H. W. Bush is being treated at a Houston hospital. He has been in and out of The Methodist Hospital in the Texas Medical Centre. He is expected to release within 72 hours.
