In May 07, two additional economy coaches are added accomodating 156 more passengers. In June 2007, Pakistan withdrew 30 bomb-disposal officials from Kotri, Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas railway stations who looks after the Thar Express. During the 2007 July Rajasthan rains, the train service is postponed by a day and was later suspnded leaving passengers stranded in Rajasthan due to floods.

The Thar Express is considered the most easiest train to enter India and this lead to a situation which made the Rajasthan Government launch a search for missing Pakistani nationals who went missing after the expiry of their visas.
