About Uninor

Uninor is a JV between Unitech and Telenor. Uninor initially launched its operations in seven circles (Operations launched in Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, U.P. (East), and U.P. (West).) in December 09 and later in Orissa. The company has, rather surprisingly, resisted offering per-second billing plans that was popular amongst its peers. Its per-minute plans do not suggest aggressive discounting.

The company has rolled out a total of 12,000 base stations with 100% passive infrastructure leasing. The company has leased passive infra from Tata-Quippo and Indus towers. Next phase of launch is expected in 1QCY10. Uninor has indicated that it intends to have a focused rollout in 15 circles while just fulfilling rollout obligations in the other seven circles.

Reports say the company has got 1.2 million subscribers in the 1st month of operations.
