About Indus Towers Ltd

Incorporated in November 2007, Indus Towers is an Indian service provider for telecom operators in the wireless space and other wireless service providers such as broadcasters and broadband service providers. Its headquarters is located at Gurgaon in the National Capital Region of Delhi. It has approximately 96,000 towers and is already the largest tower company of the world. The company is in the rollout of new sites in the 16 telecom circles of India. As of July 2009, Bharti Group has 42% share, Vodafone-Essar Group has 42% and Aditya Birla Telecom (Idea Cellular) has 16% of share in the company. Indus Towers Corporate office is located in Gurgaon, India.

In May 26, 2009 the tower count crossed 100,000 surpassing its nearest rival American Tower Corporation.

In June 2009, Mr B.S. Shantharaju took charge as the new CEO of the company.

The company is expected to complete receiving towers from the three participating companies and hence complete the merger of the tower subsidaries.

In November 09, the income tax department has filed an objection in the Delhi high court, which is considering the scheme of demerger of Vodafone Essar's tower assets into the three-way joint venture firm Indus Towers.

Uninor who launched its telecom services in seven telecom circles in India during December 09 is a tenant for Indus.

Indus Towers IPO

Manik Jhangiani, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Bharti Enterprises, speaking at the third quarter results, said that Indus Tower's IPO will be in next fiscal year after reviewing current year's financial performance.
