Personal Biography

When asked about his personal life, he said, "I never said I have a girlfriend, and I never said I don't have a girlfriend. My public and private life are separate. I keep my private life to myself." Rumours are abuzz that Michael is dating Nicole Johnson, a former Miss California USA runner up.

In October 08, Phelps said his long dream of meeting American basketball champion Michael Jordan is going to fullfil as the later is participating in a golf tournament in winter at the Bahamas.

Michael Phelps appeared on Saturday Night Live as host of its 34th-season premiere on September 13, 2008 on NBC.

Professional Biography


Michael Phelps holds the all-time records for Olympic gold medals - 18, Olympic gold medals in individual events - 11, and Olympic medals in individual events for a male - 13. In winning eight gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Games, Phelps took the record for the most first-place finishes at any single Olympic Games. Five of those victories were in individual events, tying the single Games record. In the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, Phelps won four golds and two silver medals, making him the most successful athlete of the Games for the third Olympics in a row.

Fellow swimmer Ryan Lochte is considered the best competitor for Phelps. In fact, Phelps and Lochte are considered as the Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson of swimming.

Olympics 2008

Phelps grabbed a record eight olympic medals in the Beijing Olympics. When asked about how it feels about winning the Olympic Gold, Phelps said, "I don't feel any different. I'm just having fun with this". Phelps said that he had enjoyed each of his post-Beijing experiences, especially having actress Demi Moore introduce herself and invite him to dinner after MTV's award show.

3-month ban

Phelps took a brief break from competitions after the 2008 Olympics after a 3 month suspension is ordered by USA Swimming after a photograph surfaced in British tabloid News of the World showing him smoking marijuana from a bong. After the break, he is spotted when he competed at the Charlotte Ultraswim in North Carolina on May 2009. He won the 200 meter and the butterfly in the event but showed signs of difficulty.
