About Suresh Kalmadi

Suresh Kalmadi is the President of the Indian Olympic Association. He is currently a member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs.

Earlier, he served as the Chairman of the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (CGOC) of the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

Professional Biography

Suresh Kalmadi slammed BCCI for not sending cricket team to Asian Games.

In June 2010, he blamed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for not sending the Indian cricket team to the 2010 Guangdong Asian Games.

Suresh Kalmadi on 13 Oct 2012 said that he would not contest the forthcoming Indian Olympic Association's elections. He would retire from sports administration.

Arrest and Release

Suresh Kalmadi was arrested for alleged corruption in the 2010 Commonwealth Games. He was the Chairman of the Commonwealth Games Organization Committee. After spending nine months in jail, Suresh Kalmadi was released on bail on January 19, 2012.
