About Lance Armstrong

Lance Armstrong (UCI Code: USA19710918) is a former professional. He is a Cancer survivor. Cancer-sick Lance retired in 2005 but made a comeback later.

Lance Armstrong has won an unprecedented seven Tour de France titles. He also won the Bronze medal at the 2000 Olympics. The USADA has stripped the titles and wins dating to 1998.

He had faced several allegations for using performance enhancing drugs. Hundreds of drug tests were done which Armstrong has passed consistently. He has retired from professional cycling in 2011.

In 2012, the USADA has banned Lance Armstrong after he decided not to enter USADA's arbitration process. All his titles were stripped.

Bikes stolen; Recovered

In February 09, four bikes of the Asthana team are stolen. The stolen bikes includes a one-of-a-kind 10K dollar bike of Lance. The theft happened from his teams van parked in downtown Sacramento during the weekend. Lance communicated about the theft to his fans using Twitter. The Sacramento police recovered two of the four lost bikes.

Banned and Titles Stripped

The US Anti-Doping Agency has found Armstrong guilty. Armstrong has claimed that the arbitration panel is corrupt and that the USADA's chief executive Travis Tygart is waging a personal vendetta against him. On 23 August 2012, Armstrong decided not to enter enter the USADA's arbitration process, saying that the process is unfair and one-sided. USADA has eventually decided to strip Armstrong of the titles he won in his career including the seven Tour de France titles and the bronze medal at the Olympics. The USADA also banned Armstrong for life.

The U.S. Anti-Doping agency announced on 10 October 2012 that it plans to release more than 1000 pages of evidence against Lance Armstrong. The agency called the case "most sophisticated, professionalized and successful doping program the sport has ever seen."


The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency has released a report detailing allegations of widespread and sophisticated doping committed by Armstrong and his teammates from 1999 to 2005, when he won seven Tour de France titles.

Livestrong - Lance Armstrong Foundation

Lance Armstrong has founded the Livestrong cancer-fighting charity.

On 17 October 2012, Lance Armstrong announced that he is stepping down as the chairman of his charity in the backdrop of the troubles he has with U.S. Anti-Doping Agency. He arrived at the decision to step down so that the charity can focus on its mission instead of being distracted by his problems.

Lance Armstrong will remain on the 15-member board.

Anna Hansen is his girl friend. The two are expecting their second child together - less than a year after the couple's first child was born.
