About 2010 Commonwealth Games
The 2010 Commonwealth Games began in New Delhi, India on October 3, 2010. The games are the biggest games in New Delhi since the 1982 Asian Games. Shera is the mascot of the games. The 2010 Commonwealth Games Queens Baton travelled across India.
The XIX Commonwealth Games will be hosted in New Delhi, the capital city of India. More than 6000 athletes from 71 Commonwealth teams are participating in the competitions. The events will begin from October 3 and the closing ceremony will be held on October 14, 2010. Prince Charles and Indian President Pratibha Patil have officially opened the games.In a survey conducted by the ASSOCHAM, 72 per cent of those surveyed prefered Rahul Gandhi to the brand ambassador for the 2010 Commonwealth games in New Delhi. The survey was conducted among 10,000 students in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Dehradun, Jaipur, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Kolkata and Bhubaneswar. Rahul Gandhi is followed by Sachin Tendulkar (64%), Aamir Khan (56%) and AR Rahman (42%).

2010 Commonwealth Games Medal Table
There are currently 72 nations planning to field teams at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. As Fiji is suspended from the Commonwealth, it has been banned from participating in the Games. Rwanda may field a team for the games since becoming a Commonwealth member in 2009.
